We used microarrays to compare the expression profiles between brains of BCAS1 knockout and wild type mice
Mice lacking BCAS1, a novel myelin-associated protein, display hypomyelination, schizophrenia-like abnormal behaviors, and upregulation of inflammatory genes in the brain.

View SamplesPerilipin A (PeriA) exclusively locates on adipocyte lipid droplets and is essential for lipid storage and lipolysis. Adipocyte specific overexpression of PeriA caused resistance to diet-induced obesity and resulted in improved insulin sensitivity. In order to better understand the biological basis for this observed phenotype we performed DNA microarray analysis on white adipose tissue (WAT) from PeriA transgenic (Tg) and control wildtype (WT) mice.
Perilipin overexpression in white adipose tissue induces a brown fat-like phenotype.

View SamplesEpigenetic gene regulation in various oncogenic pathways is currently an important focus of cancer research. The PI3K pathway plays a pivotal role in hepatocellular carcinoma, but the significance of histone modification in the PI3K pathway-dependent hepatotumorigenesis remains unknown.
Impact of histone demethylase KDM3A-dependent AP-1 transactivity on hepatotumorigenesis induced by PI3K activation.

View SamplesBergmann glial cells of the vertebrate cerebellum play essential roles in the development and maintenance of cerebellar structure and function. During development, Bergmann glia provide structural support to the expanding cerebellar anlage and also serve as guides for migrating neurons (granule cells). As the cerebellum matures, Bergmann glia become important in dendritic arborization, synapse maintenance and synaptic function. The molecular mechanisms underlying these diverse and important functions of Bergmann glia remain largely unknown.

View SamplesPTEN imparts tumor suppression in mice by cell autonomous and non-autonomous mechanisms. Whether these two tumor suppressor roles are mediated through similar or distinct signaling pathways is not known. Here we generated and analyzed knockin mice that express a series of human cancer-derived mutant alleles of PTEN in either stromal or tumor cell compartments of mammary glands. We find that cell non-autonomous tumor suppression by Pten in stromal fibroblasts strictly requires activation of P-Akt signaling, whereas cell autonomous tumor suppression in epithelial tumor cells is independent of overt canonical pathway activation
Noncatalytic PTEN missense mutation predisposes to organ-selective cancer development in vivo.
